March Update

A lovely steady stream of visitors have been calling in to see  
E A R T H  + W A T E R + F I R E  at Cottleston since the opening last Friday.  

It is great to have the opportunity to share Andrew Caldwell's and my works. 

I love that a number of visitors have been sharing their own experiences of Hawkes Bay as well as holiday travels in other parts of New Zealand, prompted by the beautiful landscapes on the walls.

There are just three more days to go to catch this exhibition, which closes this Sunday.

Normal opening hours are 11am - 4.30pm.

These will be extended just for this Friday 6th and Saturday 7th to:  9.30am - 6.30pm.

Visitors are welcome to view the current gallery collection at other times. Please simply phone for an appointment.

March Exhibition at Cottleston: EARTH • WATER • FIRE

On 27th February at 6pm we preview the exhibition EARTH • WATER • FIRE.

On show will be a selection of the stunning images of Napier photographer Andrew Caldwell, along with the oil landscapes of artist Katherine Steeds, who grew up in Havelock North.

Caldwell and Steeds's works traverse hill and water, with the constant of the huge and changing Hawkes Bay skies.

The exhibition will be open daily between 11am and 4.30pm, 28th February until 8 March.

Tour through the Gallery

Here is a quick look through the gallery one quiet morning during Katherine Steeds' exhibition •Kuaka• The Godwit.

The entrance is to the right up the front steps.
(Unfortunately no ramp access yet, but it is planned to be constructed this summer.)

Through the double doors (above) is a small study room with prints to browse on the desk, and two paintings on the walls:

Back into the lounge and through the single lead-light door and right to the blue room:

Going back again, the front door (emergency exit) completes the five matching lead-light doors that date back to the Art Nouveau movement.

 … and back through to the entrance room.

There are also two more rooms that were not used for this exhibition.
